Instructional Designer

As an educator, I have always strived to create inclusive and culturally responsive courses. The culturally responsive course designer certification helped me take my efforts to the next level. The program offered a wealth of resources and strategies to create courses that honor and celebrate students' diverse backgrounds. Through interactive discussions and practical tips, I learned how to incorporate culturally relevant content, adapt teaching methods, and create a welcoming classroom environment.

A word from the Facilitator

Courtney Plotts, Ph.D.
Founder of Neuroculture

Joining this certification will equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to understand the role of acculturative stress and combat marginalization in learning environments. By becoming a certified culturally responsive designer, you’ll be at the forefront of driving positive change through design.

  Certification

In this program, participants have the option to complete only the first part of the course without pursuing the full LODEI certification. However, they will obtain the culturally responsive course design certification.

By completing the first part of the course, participants gain a solid foundation in culturally responsive teaching and design principles.  These insights can greatly enhance their teaching practices and contribute to more equitable and engaging classrooms.

While not pursuing the full LODEI certification, participants who complete the first part of the course can still apply the concepts and strategies learned to their teaching contexts. They will be equipped with the necessary tools to better understand and support the diverse needs of faculty and students, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

The course content was relevant, well-researched, and practical, providing me with a solid foundation in culturally responsive instructional design principles. The facilitators were experienced professionals who fostered a supportive learning community. This certification has not only enhanced my professional skills but also instilled a sense of responsibility to promote equity and inclusion in all my future projects.

The instructors were exceptional, offering personalized guidance and feedback throughout the certification process. I feel more confident and equipped to design courses that truly engage and empower my students. This certification is a must for educators who are committed to fostering cultural responsiveness in their teaching practices.

"I’ve been attending the LODEI Online DEI Officer Certification course taught by Dr. Courtney Plotts for the last 7 months. The course is so relevant to my work as an Instructional Designer, to me personally, and honestly to anyone. Dr. Plotts facilitates the course in a way that feels reassuring, hopeful for humanity, and almost as a soothing counseling session. She is so good at what she does! Her passion about the topic shines through in all the ways she interacts with her learners. She practices what she teaches, and you can see it and learn it…truly. Courtney, you’re the best! Thank you!"

When instructional design and cultural responsiveness are combined, educators can create transformative learning experiences that reach and engage all learners, regardless of their backgrounds. By incorporating culturally relevant examples, diverse perspectives, and inclusive pedagogical strategies, instructional designers can create an environment where learners feel valued, understood, and supported. This approach not only enhances learning outcomes but also contributes to the development of empathetic, globally aware individuals who can thrive in diverse and interconnected societies.
